Herman A. Matherson Jr., M.A.
Pastor Herman Matherson, a member of The House of the Lord since 1983, is currently an Associate Pastor and Chief Operating Office of the church. Pastor Herman’s responsibilities involve overseeing day-to-day operations, with specific administrative oversight of the church’s legal, IT, physical plant and financial aspects. Ministries under his direct purview include the Men’s Ministry, Youth Ministry, Couples Ministry, Mentoring Ministry and Senior Adults Ministry. Additionally, Pastor Herman serves as a member of the church’s Elder’s Board, providing spiritual support to the Senior Pastor.
Within the community, Pastor Herman represents The House of the Lord in venues such as The Summit County Children Services Advisory Board; the Peace, Justice, and Equality Advisory Board, sponsored by the Juvenile Court; Truly Reaching You, a re-entry project; Project Ujima, a mentoring project; and Project Learn of Summit County, an adult literacy project. Pastor Herman holds a B.S. in Chemistry and an M.A. in Diplomacy. Additionally, he is a board-certified Master Mental Health Coach and a Mental Health First Aid Responder (adult and youth) for the National Council for Behavioral Health. He is also a certified disaster first responder under the auspices of the State of Ohio and Summit County Department of Health. Married to his wife Orzella Matherson for 45 years, Pastor Herman is the father of two adult sons, Brannan of Las Vegas, and Tyrone of Washington, D.C.
